The Atlanta Hawks have issued a two-year, $4.5 million offer sheet to restricted free-agent center N’Faly Dante, according to league sources cited by Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. The agreement was signed on August 16.
Houston, Dante’s current team, has 48 hours to match the deal. Cap expert Keith Smith of Spotrac reports that the Rockets are up against the first-apron hard cap and lack the financial room to equal Atlanta’s offer.
Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle notes that Houston already has three players on two-way contracts, signaling the club was prepared for the 23-year-old’s possible exit.
Dante, a 6-foot-11 native of Mali, went undrafted in 2024 after a standout career at Oregon. He joined the Rockets on a two-way contract last summer and appeared in four NBA games as a rookie, averaging 6.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 12.8 minutes.
The bulk of his production came with Houston’s G League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, where he posted 15.1 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.0 steal and 2.2 blocks per game on 74.3 percent shooting across 42 contests (26.8 minutes).
If the Rockets decline to match, Dante would bolster Atlanta’s frontcourt behind Onyeka Okongwu and Kristaps Porziņģis. Offer sheets for two-way restricted free agents are rare, but Atlanta’s move indicates confidence in Dante’s ability to contribute at the NBA level.
