ATLANTA — The Atlanta Hawks have dealt guard Kobe Bufkin to the Brooklyn Nets for $110,000 in cash considerations, according to reports from Shams Charania of ESPN and Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Bufkin, selected 15th overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, struggled to stay on the floor in Atlanta. A fractured thumb, a sprained toe, and season-ending shoulder surgery in December limited him to 27 appearances over two seasons. In 11.9 minutes per game, the 6-foot-4 guard averaged 5.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and shot 37 percent from the field. He turns 22 on Sunday.

Brooklyn absorbs Bufkin’s $4.5 million salary, a move that pushes the club above the league’s salary floor. The Nets have until Oct. 31 to decide on his $6.9 million team option for the 2026-27 season.

Adding Bufkin tightens an already crowded roster in Brooklyn. Once the trade becomes official—and with Ricky Council IV also expected—the Nets will have 15 guaranteed contracts plus four players on partial or non-guaranteed deals, forcing decisions before opening night.

Atlanta creates a $4.5 million trade exception and gains room below the luxury-tax threshold. The move also opens a roster spot; the Hawks currently have 10 guaranteed contracts for the upcoming season.
