Trade interest in Dallas Mavericks center Anthony Davis has cooled, with the Atlanta Hawks and Toronto Raptors no longer involved in substantive negotiations, according to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.

The change narrows the field of potential suitors as the Mavericks consider their options ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline.

Injury and Availability

Davis, 30, is expected to miss at least six weeks after sustaining ligament damage in his left hand. He chose to forego surgery. In 20 appearances this season, the eight-time All-Star is averaging 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.7 blocks. His limited court time continues to cloud his market value.

Internal Debates in Dallas

Some within the Mavericks’ organization reportedly want to pair Davis with rookie forward Cooper Flagg and guard Kyrie Irving. Others see strategic value in a short-term decline. Dallas controls its own first-round pick only through the 2026 NBA Draft, making a potential tanking strategy more appealing.

Contract Factors

Davis is earning $54.1 million this season and becomes eligible in August for a four-year, $275 million extension. Agent Rich Paul is expected to push for that deal, while the Mavericks weigh the center’s injury history and age before committing.

Recent Team Moves

Atlanta, which has already shifted direction by trading Trae Young, is no longer pursuing Davis. Toronto, sitting fourth in the Eastern Conference and familiar with Paul after extending Brandon Ingram, has likewise stepped back.

Davis has appeared in just 29 games for Dallas since arriving in the Luka Doncic blockbuster trade. The Mavericks are currently 12th in the Western Conference.

The star big man remains available, but his market appears far less certain than it did only a few weeks ago.
