Atlanta — The Hawks said forward Jonathan Kuminga will be re-evaluated following the NBA All-Star break as he continues to heal from a bone bruise in his left knee.

Kuminga, 23, sustained the injury when he hyperextended the knee during Golden State’s Jan. 22 loss to Dallas. That contest turned out to be his final appearance for the Warriors before he was traded to Atlanta.

The former No. 7 overall pick arrived with guard Buddy Hield in the deal that sent center Kristaps Porziņģis to the Warriors. The timetable announced by Atlanta rules Kuminga out for the club’s next three games; the earliest he could debut is Feb. 19 in Philadelphia, the Hawks’ first game after the break.

Kuminga had formally asked Golden State for a trade on Jan. 15, the first day he was eligible to be moved. According to NBC Sports Bay Area, his representatives had not been focusing on Atlanta as a potential landing spot, but the player is said to be welcoming the opportunity.

The Hawks will face a contract decision this summer: Kuminga’s deal includes a $24.3 million team option for the 2026-27 season that must be exercised by June 30.
