The Atlanta Hawks have converted point guard Keaton Wallace from a two-way player to a standard one-year contract and moved forward Caleb Houstan from an Exhibit 10 agreement to a two-way deal, according to the NBA’s official transaction log.
The adjustments were logged on October 18 at 5:44 p.m. CST, just days before the regular season begins. By gaining a standard roster spot, Wallace is now eligible for the full 82-game schedule and the postseason, privileges that are not available to two-way players.
Wallace appeared in 31 games for Atlanta under a two-way contract last season and strengthened his case for promotion during four preseason outings, averaging 5.5 points, 5.0 assists and 1.5 steals in 16.6 minutes. Despite shooting only 30.8 percent from the field—8.3 percent from three—the 25-year-old gives the Hawks a more traditional point-guard option behind Trae Young. Other ball-handling duties are expected to fall to Dyson Daniels and Luke Kennard.
Houstan, 23, enters his fourth NBA season and therefore his final year of two-way eligibility. The former Magic sharpshooter joins Eli Ndiaye and Jacob Toppin as Atlanta’s two-way players. Two-way contracts limit players to 50 active games and bar them from the playoffs, though they can spend up to 90 days with the parent club.
