The Atlanta Hawks possess a 2026 first-round selection originally obtained from the New Orleans Pelicans, and league sources believe that pick could headline any future bid for Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, according to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.

Fischer reported that the Bucks would likely take immediate notice if the Hawks dangled that choice, because Milwaukee could then control both Atlanta’s own 2026 first-rounder and the Pelicans’ pick, doubling its chances to secure a high draft slot in what could be a pivotal class.

Despite the pick’s perceived value—some executives think it could wind up carrying the best odds for the No. 1 overall selection—Fischer noted he has “repeatedly and strongly” been told Atlanta’s front office has declared the asset untouchable since the season began.

Even so, Fischer added that the Hawks might revisit that stance should Antetokounmpo become available. Opportunities to land a reigning MVP-caliber player in his prime are rare, and the lure of pairing Antetokounmpo with Trae Young could force Atlanta to reconsider its position.

For now, team officials maintain the 2026 Pelicans pick is off limits. Whether that conviction endures if Milwaukee entertains trade discussions remains an open question.
