VITORIA-GASTEIZ, Spain — Spanish club Baskonia announced Thursday that free-agent wing Hamidou Diallo has agreed to a two-year deal.

Diallo, who turned 27 on July 31, enters the EuroLeague after seven NBA seasons. The 6’5” guard/forward was selected 45th overall in the 2018 draft following one year at Kentucky. He opened his professional career with the Oklahoma City Thunder and was traded to the Detroit Pistons during the 2020/21 campaign.

The Queens, New York native remained a rotation player in Detroit for more than two seasons but went unsigned in the 2023 offseason. He later accepted a training-camp contract with the Washington Wizards, was waived before the 2023/24 regular season and spent that year with the G League’s Capital City Go-Go. Washington brought him back on a 10-day deal in January 2024, and he appeared in two NBA games.

Diallo played the 2024/25 season in China, averaging 22.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.2 steals and 0.9 blocks over 41 games for the Shanxi Loongs while shooting 49.6% from the field, 28.6% from three-point range and 71.0% at the foul line. Shanxi finished 34-12, the second-best mark in the Chinese Basketball Association, but was swept in the playoff semifinals by the Beijing Ducks.

Across 265 NBA regular-season appearances, Diallo owns career averages of 8.4 points and 3.8 rebounds in 18.4 minutes per night. He has shot 27.4% from beyond the arc and 62.3% from the free-throw line but is regarded for his athleticism, defense and finishing ability.

Baskonia, which also competes in Spain’s Liga ACB, went 14-20 in EuroLeague play last season, posting a 12-5 record at home and 2-15 on the road to miss the postseason. The roster previously featured former NBA players Chima Moneke, Trent Forrest and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot.
