INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton told reporters Saturday that his recovery from a torn Achilles tendon is progressing steadily, though he will remain sidelined for the entire 2025-26 NBA campaign.
“I’m walking now in my boot, getting closer to walking full time in my shoe,” the two-time All-Star said. “That’s exciting for me. It’s kind of a new benchmark.”
The 25-year-old suffered the injury during Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals. While eager to return, Haliburton emphasized that he will not rush the process.
“I obviously want to be good tomorrow, but I know it takes time,” he noted. “The team has already ruled me out for the year, so I’m in no rush. I don’t want to come back at 85 or 90 percent—I want to be 100 percent.”
Haliburton added that he has been rehabbing alongside Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark, the top pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft who has missed 14 games with a groin injury. “We lift at the same time, so it’s just us two in the weight room,” he said. “It’s good to have each other to lean on.”
Haliburton will continue his rehabilitation program with the goal of being fully cleared for the 2026-27 season.
