Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton said he is now walking unaided six weeks after tearing his Achilles tendon, an injury that sidelined him for most of Game 7 of the NBA Finals. The update came Friday, August 15, during his annual youth basketball camp in Wisconsin.

“I’m finally walking without the use of crutches or a scooter, so that’s exciting for me,” Haliburton told reporters while taking a break from coaching campers.

The 24-year-old described his rehabilitation as “up and down,” noting that each new milestone arrives roughly every few weeks. The next target, he said, is shedding the protective boot entirely and wearing regular shoes full-time.

Doctors have advised that a full return from an Achilles tear typically takes about one year. “We’re only at week six, week seven now, so we still got a lot of time to get there,” Haliburton explained. He credited his medical team and surgeon for keeping the process on track.

Despite the setback, the All-Star guard remains focused on helping Indiana capture its first championship. “When I am able to get back to 100 percent, the chase continues,” he said.
