The atmosphere around the Memphis Grizzlies grew noticeably strained on Wednesday night as the club fell to the Houston Rockets, 124-109, at FedExForum.

Throughout the game, guard Ja Morant and first-year head coach Tuomas Iisalo appeared disconnected. Observers reported that Morant spoke little to Iisalo from morning shootaround through the final buzzer. During timeouts, the two-time All-Star sat at the far end of the bench, largely avoiding interaction with teammates and staff.

On the court, Morant finished with 17 points on 6-for-19 shooting and committed six turnovers. The defeat extended Memphis’ losing streak to four games.

The Grizzlies continue to adjust to Iisalo’s new offensive system, and the transition has been rocky. Poor spacing and limited ball movement have hampered production, and forward Jaren Jackson Jr. has seen his offensive role shrink significantly.

After the game, Morant admitted he must “read defenses better” and take smarter shots. Iisalo told reporters that confidence only returns “when you win,” adding that “losing exposes everything.”

Meanwhile, Houston’s bench energy—highlighted by rookie Amen Thompson—offered a stark contrast to the subdued Grizzlies sideline, underscoring the growing frustration in Memphis.
