The Memphis Grizzlies have brought back guard Lucas Williamson on a second hardship contract, the team announced Thursday. Williamson’s previous 10-day deal expired overnight, allowing the club to re-sign the 27-year-old under the NBA’s hardship exception.

Although classified as a standard 10-day contract, the new agreement covers only the final three days—and two remaining games—of the regular season. Williamson will earn $21,946, the prorated amount of a rookie 10-day salary.

Before his first call-up, the 6-4 guard split this season between the G League’s Memphis Hustle and Windy City Bulls. In five NBA appearances during his initial stint with Memphis, he averaged 9.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists across 28.2 minutes per game, logging at least 36 minutes in each of the last three contests for an injury-depleted roster.

Williamson is one of four players the Grizzlies have added on hardship deals to finish out the schedule. With seven players sidelined for at least three straight games and ruled out for the season, Memphis is permitted to exceed the standard 15-man limit. Dariq Whitehead, Toby Okani and Adama Bal are also on 10-day contracts that expire Sunday night after the club’s regular-season finale.

Memphis has dropped 19 of its last 21 outings and has leaned heavily on the quartet of late-season additions. Williamson owns the best individual net rating of the group at minus-15.4; Whitehead’s sits at a team-worst minus-29.4.
