The Memphis Grizzlies announced Saturday that rookie guard Javon Small has been diagnosed with turf toe in his left foot and will be re-evaluated in approximately three weeks.

Small, 22, suffered the injury on November 8 while playing for the Memphis Hustle, the club’s G League affiliate. The 6’2″ guard opened the 2025-26 season in the Grizzlies’ rotation but had seen his minutes decline before the setback.

Selected 48th overall in the 2025 NBA Draft, Small played collegiate basketball at East Carolina, Oklahoma State and West Virginia before signing a two-way contract with Memphis. Through eight NBA appearances, he is averaging 4.3 points and 2.8 assists in 12.4 minutes per game.

His absence adds to a lengthy injury list for the Grizzlies. Ty Jerome (calf strain), Scotty Pippen Jr. (toe surgery), Brandon Clarke (knee surgery) and Zach Edey (off-season ankle surgery) have yet to play this season, though the team noted Edey could make his debut Saturday in Cleveland.
