Ja Morant’s name continues to surface in trade discussions, but sources indicate the Memphis Grizzlies guard is not keen on a move to Sacramento.

Reporting from Kelly Iko of Yahoo Sports states that Morant and his representatives view the Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves as far more attractive destinations than the Kings. Sacramento, for its part, has not closed the door on a potential deal, but would want draft compensation attached to Morant, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.

The Kings are reportedly cautious about absorbing Morant’s maximum contract, which runs through the 2027-28 season, and have internal questions about roster fit and locker-room chemistry.

Memphis is said to be seeking draft assets in any Morant trade, even if that requires taking back unwanted salaries. The difference in priorities has prevented meaningful progress in conversations with Sacramento.

If the Kings step back, Miami and Minnesota remain logical suitors. Jake Fischer of The Stein Line also mentioned the Milwaukee Bucks as a team that cannot be ruled out, noting that any serious movement could hinge on the status of Giannis Antetokounmpo.
