Oklahoma City will be without reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander when the Thunder visit the Jazz in Utah on Sunday. The team announced the star guard is dealing with bursitis in his left elbow, marking his first absence of the season.
Gilgeous-Alexander headlines a lengthy injury list for the Thunder. Rotation players Luguentz Dort (right adductor strain), Alex Caruso (right quad contusion), Isaiah Joe (left knee soreness) and Isaiah Hartenstein (right soleus strain) are also ruled out, bringing the total to seven unavailable players for the matchup.

First-year head coach Jordan Ott said Friday that Devin Booker (right groin strain) could return for the Suns’ NBA Cup quarterfinal on Wednesday in Oklahoma City. “We’ll continue to assess him day by day,” Ott told reporters, adding that Booker has made “good progress in a short amount of time.” If the guard responds well physically, he is expected to be available.
Bulls’ Essengue details shoulder injury
Noa Essengue, Chicago’s lottery pick, revealed Saturday that his season-ending left shoulder injury was a dislocation. The French forward, who dislocated the same shoulder two years ago, said surgery is scheduled for Wednesday.
