Injury developments for three Western Conference contenders surfaced Sunday, offering both optimism and uncertainty ahead of the new week’s games.
Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks saw a positive step from Giannis Antetokounmpo, who participated in the team’s pre-game shootaround before Sunday’s matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to Eric Nehm of The Athletic. The two-time MVP has been out since early December with a strained calf and has no official return date. Milwaukee continues to take a cautious approach despite its position in the standings.
Mavericks
Cooper Flagg, Dallas’ rookie standout, is listed as questionable for Monday’s home game against the New Orleans Pelicans because of a back contusion, Mike Curtis of the Dallas Morning News reported. Flagg is averaging nearly 28 points over his past four outings, making his status a key storyline. The Mavericks’ injury report also includes Klay Thompson (knee soreness), Max Christie (illness), and two-way players Moussa Cisse and Miles Kelly, all marked questionable.
Warriors
Golden State forward Jonathan Kuminga is expected to be available Monday after missing Saturday’s victory over the Phoenix Suns, per Nick Friedell of The Athletic. Kuminga attended the Warriors’ film session Sunday and is on track to rejoin a rotation that has fluctuated in recent weeks; he has appeared in only one of the team’s last five games.
The Warriors will remain without two veterans. Al Horford continues to deal with a back problem that has limited him to 13 games in his first season with the club, while Seth Curry is still sidelined by a glute injury and has played just twice since signing earlier this month.
Milwaukee hosts Minnesota on Sunday night, Dallas faces New Orleans on Monday, and Golden State meets its next opponent the same evening as it awaits Kuminga’s return.
