Milwaukee, Wis. — Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is said to favor a trade to the Miami Heat if efforts to join the New York Knicks do not materialize, according to The Ringer’s Howard Beck during an appearance on “The Zach Lowe Show.”

Beck told ESPN’s Zach Lowe that multiple league sources identified Miami as a serious preference for the two-time MVP should he seek a move away from Milwaukee. Both the Knicks and Heat are expected to engage the Bucks if the franchise entertains offers, though Milwaukee has insisted it will listen only after Antetokounmpo formally requests a trade.

The 29-year-old forward shares agent Alex Saratsis of Octagon with Heat center Bam Adebayo, a connection that may enhance Miami’s appeal. Antetokounmpo nearly joined the Knicks before the season, and ESPN’s Shams Charania recently reported that New York no longer holds exclusive negotiating rights if trade talks open.

Antetokounmpo earns $54.1 million this season and has a $62.8 million player option for 2027-28. His contract does not include a no-trade clause. Prior to a right calf strain, he averaged 28.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 6.1 assists while shooting nearly 64 percent from the field.

A two-time MVP, Finals MVP, Defensive Player of the Year and nine-time All-Star, Antetokounmpo remains one of the league’s premier talents. If he requests a move, numerous contenders are expected to pursue him.
