Utah Jazz forward Georges Niang will be sidelined for a minimum of two weeks after sustaining a stress reaction in the fourth metatarsal of his left foot, the team announced Saturday.
The injury occurred during offseason training and conditioning. According to the club’s statement, Niang will be reevaluated in two weeks.
Niang began the 2024-25 campaign with the Cleveland Cavaliers, appearing in 51 games off the bench before a February trade sent him to the Atlanta Hawks. He played 28 contests for Atlanta, starting twice. Across 79 total games, the 32-year-old averaged 9.9 points and 3.4 rebounds in 21.5 minutes while shooting 46.1% from the field, 40.6% from three-point range, and 79.3% at the free-throw line.
The veteran forward was moved to Boston in July as part of the Kristaps Porziņģis deal, then acquired by Utah in August in a salary-clearing trade. He is entering the final season of his contract and is owed $8.2 million in 2025-26.
This is Niang’s second stint with the Jazz after playing in Utah from 2017 to 2021. The organization views him as a potential rotation piece and locker-room leader, and Niang has publicly expressed enthusiasm about returning to Salt Lake City.
