PHILADELPHIA — The 76ers welcomed two key pieces back on Wednesday and rolled past the Bulls, 157-137.
George finishes suspension, focuses on season’s final stretch
Paul George suited up for the first time since completing a 25-game league suspension. Before tip-off, The Athletic’s Tony Jones outlined areas Philadelphia lacked during the forward’s absence, emphasizing his upgraded perimeter defense—thanks in part to added strength—and his outside shooting, which allows teammates to slide into natural roles.
After logging his first minutes since January, George told reporters his aim is to play in all nine remaining regular-season contests “if my body lets me.” He added that he felt “more explosive” than before the suspension.
Embiid returns from oblique strain
Joel Embiid also rejoined the lineup, posting 35 points, seven assists and six rebounds. The center said lingering knee concerns are “behind” him but called the oblique issue “tricky,” noting, “you’ve got to let it ride and hope it doesn’t get worse.”
Knicks guard McBride back on the floor in practice
Knicks head coach Mike Brown said reserve guard Miles McBride has started full-court scrimmages while recovering from sports-hernia surgery. The defensive specialist remains out for Thursday’s meeting with Charlotte, but The Athletic’s James L. Edwards III suggested Sunday’s game against Oklahoma City could mark his return. McBride last played on Jan. 27 during a career-best season.
Tatum balancing patience and urgency in Boston
ESPN’s Tim Bontemps reported that Jayson Tatum’s mid-season reintegration has been smooth overall, though the six-time All-Star admitted occasional frustration. “I’m not Superman, so it’s obviously going to take some time,” Tatum said. Team staffers and league observers told ESPN they expect him to regain form as the playoffs approach.
The Sixers’ double dose of reinforcements, McBride’s nearing comeback and Tatum’s ongoing adjustment headline a busy week around the Atlantic Division.
