Gary Payton II, De’Anthony Melton and Rookie Will Richard Headed to Warriors

Veteran guards Gary Payton II and De’Anthony Melton have reached agreements to join the Golden State Warriors, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The report, posted on Charania’s social media account on September 28, did not specify contract terms. League observers had anticipated both signings, noting that Golden State likely waited to finalize the deals until resolving its restricted-free-agency negotiations with forward Jonathan Kuminga.
In addition to the two veterans, the Warriors have signed rookie Will Richard to a four-year contract, Charania added. The No. 56 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft will receive full guarantees on the first two seasons of the agreement.
The Warriors have not yet announced when any of the agreements will become official.
