Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus has outlined a complex, five-team trade scenario that would reshuffle rosters for the Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Indiana Pacers and Brooklyn Nets. The proposal is hypothetical but fits within the current collective bargaining agreement, according to Pincus.
The proposed transactions
Bucks would receive: Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen and Thomas Bryant from Cleveland; Terance Mann from Brooklyn; plus two $2.3 million trade exceptions.
Cavaliers would receive: Jonathan Kuminga from Golden State; Bobby Portis from Milwaukee; a protected 2027 first-round pick from Golden State; a protected 2031 first-round pick from Milwaukee; and three trade exceptions worth $14.5 million, $6.6 million and $2.3 million.
Warriors would receive: Myles Turner from Milwaukee; Day’Ron Sharpe from Brooklyn; and a $2.2 million trade exception.
Pacers would receive: Trayce Jackson-Davis from Golden State.
Nets would receive: Kyle Kuzma, Cole Anthony and Amir Coffey from Milwaukee; Al Horford and Buddy Hield from Golden State; second-round picks in 2027 (via Jazz), 2028 (via Cavaliers) and 2030 (conditional via Warriors); $5 million from Golden State and $3 million from Cleveland; and a $6.3 million trade exception.
Motivation for each team
Milwaukee would add a true lead guard in Garland and a younger rim-protecting center in Allen, an aggressive move designed to maximize Giannis Antetokounmpo’s championship window.
Cleveland would break up its current core for Kuminga’s upside, Portis’s shooting and toughness, two future first-round picks and significant salary-cap flexibility.
Golden State would exchange the promising but less proven Kuminga for Turner’s proven rim protection and floor spacing, while also landing front-court depth in Sharpe.
Indiana would reunite with rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis, who played college basketball at Indiana University.
Brooklyn would take on multiple veterans and draft assets while generating a sizable trade exception and receiving $8 million in cash considerations.
Likelihood
Although all salary figures align under CBA rules, five-team trades involving multiple starters, draft picks and cash are exceedingly rare. Pincus presents the deal as an exercise illustrating the pressures facing Milwaukee, Cleveland and Golden State ahead of the trade deadline.
