Report: Market Cools for Anthony Davis as Mavericks Keep Trade Lines Open

The Dallas Mavericks remain willing to discuss an Anthony Davis trade while the All-Star center rehabs a hand injury, and agent Rich Paul would like any deal finalized before the Feb. 5 deadline, according to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line. League interest, however, has waned since Davis was hurt.
Previously linked teams back away
The Atlanta Hawks and Toronto Raptors—considered the most active suitors earlier in the season—have indicated they are no longer engaged in serious talks with Dallas, Fischer reports. Golden State, another club tied to Davis in the fall, has also shown no sustained interest.
The Mavericks are not expected to accept a sub-par offer, making it increasingly likely Davis will stay in Dallas unless one of those clubs re-engages or a new bidder emerges in the next two weeks.
Warriors plan to keep Butler
Fischer echoes colleague Marc Stein in noting Golden State does not intend to trade Jimmy Butler after the forward’s season-ending ACL injury. Team officials value his locker-room impact and envision him contributing next year. Butler’s max contract would be in play only if it helped acquire a marquee star such as Giannis Antetokounmpo or LeBron James—both players who remain on the Warriors’ radar but are not viewed as realistic trade options before the offseason.
Raptors eye Sabonis, not Morant
Toronto is signaling no pursuit of Grizzlies guard Ja Morant, sources told Fischer, but the club continues to monitor Kings center Domantas Sabonis.
Vucevic expected to stay past deadline
Multiple league sources believe Bulls center Nikola Vucevic is unlikely to be dealt before Feb. 5. The 33-year-old is projected to draw strong interest in free agency, as he is thought to be receptive to a complementary role after years as a full-time starter.
