The Philadelphia 76ers held their annual Blue-White scrimmage in Delaware on Sunday, and the spotlight was squarely on Joel Embiid. The reigning NBA MVP took the court for the first time in public since February 22, when persistent knee pain ended his regular season.

Embiid shut down play in late February, underwent knee surgery in April and has spent the offseason rehabbing. His return came as the team traveled down I-95 to the University of Delaware, turning the intrasquad game into a celebratory moment for fans eager to see him back in uniform.

Before tip-off, rookie guard VJ Edgecombe introduced Embiid and the rest of the Blue team. The packed crowd erupted as the center jogged onto the floor, signaling a key step forward in his recovery.

The Blue-White scrimmage is a yearly fan event that bridges training camp and the preseason finale, but Sunday’s edition carried added weight for both the organization and its supporters. Simply watching Embiid move without visible limitations provided what many considered the day’s biggest victory.
