Edwards, Duren Earn NBA Player of the Week Honors

The NBA on Monday named Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards the Western Conference Player of the Week and Detroit Pistons center Jalen Duren the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

Western Conference: Anthony Edwards

Edwards, a four-time All-Star, led Minnesota to a 3-0 road trip between February 23 and March 1. The former No. 1 overall pick averaged 28.7 points, 5.0 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 37.7 minutes per game while shooting 45.7 percent from the field, 35.7 percent from three and 66.7 percent at the foul line.

Eastern Conference: Jalen Duren

Duren, a first-time All-Star this season, helped Detroit post a 3-1 record last week. The 22-year-old center averaged 25.8 points, 13.8 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks in 34.0 minutes per contest, connecting on 63.9 percent of his field-goal attempts and 73.5 percent of his free throws.

Other Nominees

The league also considered several other standouts for the weekly award. In the West, nominees included Saddiq Bey (Pelicans), Luka Dončić (Lakers), Kevin Durant (Rockets) and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Thunder). Eastern Conference nominees were Jalen Brunson (Knicks), Cade Cunningham (Pistons), Jonathan Kuminga (Hawks), Tyrese Maxey (76ers) and Brandon Miller (Hornets).
