INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Pacers have added three-time Slam Dunk Contest winner Mac McClung on a two-year minimum contract that carries a team option for 2026-27. Head coach Rick Carlisle, who watched the guard work out on Monday, said McClung stood out among three free agents auditioning for the roster.
Carlisle noted that the 25-year-old impressed with his pace, toughness and ability to play both on and off the ball, even though he “never dunked once” during the session. McClung’s $2.28 million salary for 2024-25 becomes fully guaranteed only if he is still on the roster after Jan. 7.
Bucks Lean on Green and Rollins
MILWAUKEE — Early contributions from guards A.J. Green and Ryan Rollins have helped the Bucks open the season 3-1. Green is shooting 59 percent from three-point range and averaging 3.3 triples per game after signing a four-year, $45 million extension earlier this month.
Rollins, thrust into the starting point-guard role while Kevin Porter Jr. rehabs an ankle injury, is putting up 15.3 points, 4.3 assists and 3.0 steals per outing. The 22-year-old joined Milwaukee in July on a three-year, $12 million free-agent deal, and both contracts look team-friendly in the early going.
Bulls Take Cautious Approach with Coby White
CHICAGO — Bulls guard Coby White will be re-evaluated next week as he recovers from what head coach Billy Donovan called a “tricky” calf strain. Donovan said White feels no pain while shooting or jogging, but explosive moves during practice have been an issue, so there is no timetable for his return.
Wednesday’s matchup with the Kings will also mark Zach LaVine’s first appearance at the United Center since his February trade. Center Nikola Vučević hopes the crowd shows appreciation, saying LaVine “gave a lot to the organization, always played hard and cared about doing what was right for the team.”
