NEW YORK — The Knicks overpowered the Wizards 145-113 on Friday, stretching their winning streak to six games and pushing their run of victories over Washington to 12.

Karl-Anthony Towns paced New York with 26 points and 16 rebounds, while Jalen Brunson added 23 points. Josh Hart scored 16 and made all three of his three-point attempts, Mikal Bridges supplied 14 points and six assists, and Mitchell Robinson came off the bench for 10 points and 10 rebounds in 17 minutes.

The Knicks shot 58.5 percent from the floor, hit 53 percent from deep, and poured in 77 points after halftime.

Celtics slip against Timberwolves

BOSTON — Jaylen Brown’s 29 points and Jayson Tatum’s 16-point, 11-rebound outing were not enough as the Celtics fell 102-92 to Minnesota, ending a four-game Boston win streak. Derrick White chipped in 15 points.

Tatum was held scoreless in the opening half but tallied 13 in the third quarter, sparking an 11-0 run to begin the second half. The setback left Boston just a half-game ahead of New York for the Eastern Conference’s No. 2 seed.

Nets drop seventh straight

BROOKLYN — The Nets’ skid reached seven with a 126-122 loss to Sacramento. Ben Saraf led Brooklyn with 22 points, Ziaire Williams added 18, and Nolan Traore finished with 17.

The Nets closed to a one-possession deficit in the final seconds, but Traore stepped out of bounds on the last play; video review upheld the call. Brooklyn had stayed within striking distance for most of the fourth quarter before the Kings secured the win late.
