CHICAGO — The Bulls ended Josh Giddey’s lengthy free-agency saga, reaching a four-year, $100 million agreement with the 21-year-old guard, league sources confirmed.
The contract leaves Chicago’s $14.1 million mid-level exception untouched, a tool the front office is expected to save for an in-season upgrade or salary-absorption move. Looking ahead, the Bulls could still create roughly $40–50 million in cap space for the 2026 offseason even with Giddey under contract, provided they keep Coby White’s $24.5 million cap hold on the books. League cap analysts project White could command about $30 million annually if he delivers another strong year, setting up a key decision for Chicago next summer.
Pistons
DETROIT — The clock is ticking for the Pistons and former lottery picks Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren, who are eligible for rookie-scale extensions through Oct. 20. Front-office observers point to recent deals for Giddey, Jabari Smith Jr., Alperen Şengün and Trey Murphy III as potential benchmarks.
Ivey and Duren each displayed promise last season, but injuries and inconsistency cloud their market value. Should Detroit decline to extend either player before the deadline, both could enter a cap-space-heavy free-agent market in July.
Knicks
NEW YORK — Roster math looms large at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks have verbal agreements with Malcolm Brogdon, Landry Shamet and Garrison Mathews, yet only possess enough apron room to keep one. Team officials do not anticipate making trades before training camp, according to league insiders, leaving camp and preseason performance to determine who stays.
New York plans to reserve its 14th roster spot for second-round rookie Mohamed Diawara. The club also explored signing veteran center Thomas Bryant before opting to prioritize backcourt and wing depth.
