San Antonio Spurs rookie guard Dylan Harper has been cleared to play and is expected to suit up on Wednesday when the Spurs host the Portland Trail Blazers.
The No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 draft missed the past 10 games after sustaining a left calf strain during San Antonio’s Nov. 2 matchup in Phoenix. Before the injury, the 19-year-old averaged 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.8 assists in 23.5 minutes across his first six NBA appearances, shooting .500 from the field, .357 from three, and .833 at the foul line.
“When you get hurt, you think, ‘What if it’s the worst-case scenario?’” Harper said. “When they told me what it was, I felt a little better.”
Harper’s return comes at a critical time for San Antonio, which has also been without former Rookies of the Year Victor Wembanyama (calf strain) and Stephon Castle (hip flexor strain). The Spurs enter Wednesday’s contest 1-1 in NBA Cup group play and can bolster their chances of reaching the quarterfinals with a victory over Portland.
