Houston — Newly acquired Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant said he would consider joining Team USA for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics if he is still performing at a high level.
“Yeah, if I’m still me,” Durant told Law Murray of The Athletic when asked about a possible fifth Olympic appearance. The 35-year-old already owns a record four Olympic gold medals and made clear he does not want “the gift of the veteran” role that would relegate him to the end of the bench.
Durant added that he has contemplated life after his playing career, including a potential move into coaching. “Some days I would, some days I wouldn’t,” he said, noting the challenges of managing personalities.
DeMarcus Cousins Heads Back to Mongolia
Four-time NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins has re-signed with the Selenge Bodons, the Mongolian club he joined last season. The 35-year-old center announced the deal on Facebook, writing, “Can’t wait to get back to Mongolia and finish what we started and try to bring home a championship!”
Cousins last appeared in the NBA with the Denver Nuggets in 2022 and has since played in Taiwan and Puerto Rico before landing in Mongolia.
NBA, UK Government Invest in British Game
Basketball England revealed that both the NBA and the United Kingdom government will invest £5 million each to expand participation and upgrade facilities across the country. Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the sport “booming in Britain” and said the funding will “help take it to the next level.”
The league has already scheduled regular-season games in London for 2026 and Manchester for 2027, and officials are evaluating the launch of a Europe-based league as soon as 2027.
