Podcast Rumors Float Draymond Green Trades to Lakers or Kings

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green became the focus of fresh trade chatter after The Bill Simmons Podcast aired two hypothetical deals that would send the veteran to either the Los Angeles Lakers or the Sacramento Kings.

Simmons raised the scenarios days after a tense in-game exchange between Green and head coach Steve Kerr escalated to the point where Green left the bench and walked to the locker room during a win over the Orlando Magic. No discipline followed, but the episode highlighted the Warriors’ uneven season and opened the door to speculation about roster changes.

Two Ideas on the Table

On the podcast, Simmons proposed:

  • A swap that would send Green to the Lakers in return for Rui Hachimura and an additional contract.
  • A larger package sending Green, forward Jonathan Kuminga and draft picks to the Kings for All-Star center Domantas Sabonis.

Simmons emphasized that the suggestions were speculative brainstorming, not sourced reporting.

Green Remains Productive

The 35-year-old is averaging 8.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists through 24 games, along with nearly a steal and a block per night. Drafted 35th overall in 2012, he has served as a defensive anchor and emotional leader throughout Golden State’s championship era.

While the Warriors sit in the middle of the Western Conference standings, their long-time core remains intact. Kerr and Green have weathered past conflicts without roster upheaval, but Simmons noted that continued mediocrity could push once-unthinkable moves into serious consideration.
