Luka Doncic escaped a major setback Saturday after a collision during Slovenia’s 100-88 exhibition win over Latvia resulted in a right knee contusion, according to multiple reports.

The incident occurred early in the second half when teammate Gregor Hrovat fell onto Doncic’s right leg while defending. The Los Angeles Lakers star walked to the locker room without assistance but did not re-enter the game. He had already poured in 26 points in the first half.

Marc Stein reported that the injury was diagnosed as a contusion, and Dan Woike of The Athletic noted that Doncic will stay with the Slovenian national team. Slovenia opens EuroBasket play against Poland on Aug. 28 and is also slated to meet France, Belgium, Iceland and Israel in group action.

Doncic, 26, signed a three-year maximum contract extension with the Lakers earlier this month.
