Doc Rivers will not return as head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks next season, according to ESPN insider Shams Charania. The report, released Monday, states that Rivers is stepping down from the position he assumed in 2024.

Michael Scotto of HoopsHype added that league executives expect the 62-year-old coach to remain with the organization in an undetermined front-office capacity. The Bucks have not confirmed any new role.

Rivers compiled a 97-103 record in Milwaukee and owns a 2,059-1,194 mark over his NBA coaching career. Inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame earlier this year, he took over after the dismissal of Adrian Griffin and guided the Bucks to consecutive first-round playoff exits while stars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard dealt with injuries.

Charania also reported that Milwaukee will pay Rivers his full salary for the 2026-27 season despite the coaching change. The franchise has begun a search for his successor, with former Memphis Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins expected to draw serious interest.
