Doc Rivers will not return as head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks next season and is considering stepping away from the NBA rather than moving into a front-office position, according to The Athletic. The 64-year-old Hall of Famer said after Sunday’s regular-season finale that a final decision should be announced soon, noting, “We’ve talked about it, and we want it out pretty quick.”
Rivers expressed disappointment with Milwaukee’s injury-marred season but said he welcomed the chance to work with the club’s younger players. “We could have had better health… All you can do is look forward,” he said.
Bulls Rookie Targets Intensive Summer
Chicago Bulls forward Matas Buzelis, who missed the season finale because of an ankle injury, plans an offseason dedicated to strength and skill development. “I know this summer I am going to work my butt off,” the rookie told the Chicago Sun-Times, emphasizing improvements to his body, shooting, and ball-handling.
Donovan Seeks Long-Term Blueprint
Bulls head coach Billy Donovan intends to meet with team leadership at what he called “a pivot point” for the franchise, The Athletic reported. Donovan agreed with team president Michael Reinsdorf’s goal of building “something that’s sustainable.” Buzelis backed his coach, saying, “I want him to stay… I’m riding with him forever.”
Furphy Reaches Rehab Milestone
Indiana Pacers forward Johnny Furphy, nearly seven weeks removed from ACL surgery, recently shed his crutches and has increased his mobility. “That was a big milestone for me,” he told Fieldhouse Files.
