Serbian swingman Nikola Djurisic is nearing a deal with Crvena Zvezda just days after the Atlanta Hawks placed him on waivers, according to Meridian Sport and relayed by Eurohoops.net.

The 22-year-old became a free agent last week when Atlanta converted Caleb Houstan’s two-way contract into a standard NBA deal, creating the roster crunch that led to Djurisic’s release.

Selected 43rd overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, Djurisic spent his rookie campaign with the G League’s College Park Skyhawks. He signed a three-year standard NBA contract last summer, but only the first season carried a guarantee.

Djurisic did not appear in an NBA game. In 21 contests for College Park this season, he averaged 9.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists while shooting 42.7 percent from the field and 19.0 percent from beyond the arc.

The Belgrade native is expected to return home to compete in both the ABA League and the EuroLeague with Crvena Zvezda.
