Phoenix, AZ — Suns forward Dillon Brooks will miss one game without pay after drawing his 16th technical foul of the season, the NBA announced.

League rules trigger an automatic one-game suspension once a player or coach reaches 16 technicals during the regular season. Each additional pair of technical fouls results in another automatic suspension.

Brooks picked up the latest infraction with 6:37 left in the second quarter of Phoenix’s 136-109 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday. He will serve the penalty on Feb. 19, when the Suns visit the San Antonio Spurs in their first contest after the All-Star break.

Only three other players are currently in double figures for technical fouls this year: the Lakers’ Luka Dončić (13), the Pistons’ Isaiah Stewart (12) and the Warriors’ Draymond Green (11). Stewart is already sitting out a seven-game suspension for his role in this week’s Pistons-Hornets altercation.

All regular-season technical totals reset at the start of the postseason.
