Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker has been diagnosed with a right hip strain and will be re-evaluated in one week, the team announced Friday.

The injury occurred during Thursday’s loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Booker, 29, headed to the locker room midway through the first quarter, attempted a brief return late in the second, and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

The setback continues a run of health issues for the three-time All-Star, who missed eight of the 10 games before the All-Star break with a right ankle sprain. He is expected to sit out at least four additional contests, which would raise his total of missed games this season to 16. League rules require a minimum of 65 appearances to remain eligible for major postseason awards.

Through 44 games, Booker is averaging 24.7 points, 6.1 assists and 3.9 rebounds while shooting 45.4% from the field, 30.8% from three-point range and 86.1% at the foul line in 33.3 minutes per night. The Suns are 27-17 when he plays and 5-7 without him.

Phoenix also provided an update on Haywood Highsmith, who recently signed a two-year contract. The 6-5 forward is progressing from offseason knee surgery but will continue his rehabilitation and be re-evaluated in two to three weeks. Highsmith has yet to make his Suns—and season—debut.
