The NBA’s in-season tournament is nearing its decisive stages, and league officials have finalized the prize pool for the 2025 edition. Players on the team that captures the NBA Cup will receive $530,933 apiece, marking the third consecutive year of increases.
Key figures
• Champions: $530,933 per player
• Runners-up: $212,373 per player
• Semifinal losers: $106,187 per player
• Quarterfinal losers: $53,093 per player
The payouts reflect a rise of roughly 3.1 percent from the inaugural tournament in 2023, when winners collected $500,000, finalists earned $200,000, semifinalists took home $100,000, and quarterfinalists pocketed $50,000. Annual adjustments are tied to growth in the league’s basketball-related income, as stipulated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Impact on different contract types
Players on standard NBA contracts qualify for a full share, while those on two-way deals receive half. If a club featuring two-way players wins the trophy this year, each of those two-way athletes will earn $265,467.
Tournament timeline
The group stage concludes Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, after which seven teams will join the already-qualified Raptors in the knockout round. Quarterfinal bonuses become guaranteed for every player once their club reaches the final eight.
Although the bonus is modest for super-max stars, it can significantly lift salaries at the lower end of rosters. When Milwaukee won last season’s tournament, 12 Bucks—including two-way players—saw their annual earnings jump more than 17 percent thanks to the prize money.
