Mavericks
Dallas has upgraded All-Star forward Anthony Davis to doubtful for Monday night’s matchup against the Heat in Miami. The 31-year-old traveled with the team and Monday marks the seventh day of the club’s initial seven-to-10-day reevaluation window for his left calf strain. Davis has missed 13 consecutive games.
His future has been a frequent topic around the league since the Mavericks dismissed general manager Nico Harrison, a move many view as the beginning of a roster build focused on rookie Cooper Flagg. While owner Mark Cuban maintains that Davis is not on the trade block, rival teams are monitoring both the veteran’s health and the club’s ability to string together wins once he returns.
Dallas remains short-handed. Center Dereck Lively II is out with right knee injury management, while guard Brandon Williams (back tightness) and rookie Ryan Nembhard (knee sprain) are listed as questionable.
76ers
Philadelphia continues to await the return of Joel Embiid. The reigning MVP sat out his seventh straight game on Sunday as he manages soreness in his right knee. Head coach Nick Nurse told reporters he believes Embiid’s comeback is “close,” noting the center “wants to play” and has been “very diligent” in his rehab. The team has described his recovery as a long but steady process.
