Los Angeles — Two-time All-Star guard Darius Garland is expected to suit up for the Clippers on Monday night against the Golden State Warriors, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes.
Garland, 26, has been sidelined since January 14 while managing a left toe injury and a right great toe sprain. He appeared in 26 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers before being traded to Los Angeles on February 4 in a deal that sent James Harden to Cleveland.
Toe problems have bothered Garland since last postseason, when he missed four playoff contests, including two home defeats to the Indiana Pacers in the second round.
The Clippers view Garland as a long-term piece; his contract runs through the 2027-28 season and includes salaries of $42.2 million next year and $44.9 million the year after. This season, he is averaging 18.0 points and 6.9 assists in 30.5 minutes.
Los Angeles has clawed back to a 27-31 record and holds a five-game cushion over the Memphis Grizzlies for the Western Conference’s final play-in spot.
