Stephen Curry says right-knee recovery will sideline him “a little longer”

Golden State star Stephen Curry indicated Saturday night that his return from a lingering right-knee problem is not imminent, telling ESPN during an in-game interview that the process “will be a little longer.”

Curry, 35, has missed 10 consecutive games and has yet to resume on-court work. The Warriors list the injury as patellofemoral pain syndrome, often called runner’s knee.

“This is a weird one,” Curry said. “It’s kind of unpredictable how it’ll heal.”

Golden State originally targeted a comeback shortly after the All-Star break, but the two-time MVP experienced a setback during a workout and was held out of court activity for 10 days. He emphasized that daily progress will dictate his timeline.

“It’s about each day—can you stack good days?” Curry added. “Once I get back on the court, it’s a little bit of a pain-tolerance thing, but it’s something you don’t want lingering.”

The Warriors fell 129-101 to the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday, dropping to 31-29 and holding the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference.

Elsewhere around the league, Jimmy Butler is out for the season with a torn ACL, and Kristaps Porzingis is sidelined by illness, leaving Golden State with little margin for error as the postseason approaches.
