Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban publicly refuted a report suggesting veteran center Dwight Powell plans to retire after the 2025-26 campaign. In a post on X, Cuban wrote that the information “is not true.”

The 34-year-old big man is in his 11th full season with Dallas and has appeared in 20 of the club’s 25 games, logging 10.9 minutes per contest. Powell is earning $4 million in the final year of his contract; if he chooses to continue his career, he would need a new deal and would likely command the veteran minimum.

Timberwolves Send Beringer to G League

The Minnesota Timberwolves assigned rookie center Joan Beringer to the Iowa Wolves on Tuesday, marking his first G League stint of the season. Beringer has seen limited NBA action and will get extended minutes when Iowa faces the Motor City Cruise on Friday.

Details on New Two-Way Contracts

Recently signed two-way pacts for LJ Cryer and Malevy Leons of the Golden State Warriors and Tyler Smith of the Houston Rockets each cover two seasons, sources tell Hoops Rumors. The structure allows Golden State and Houston to keep the players on two-way deals through 2026-27, though most two-way contracts do not last their full term because players are often converted to standard deals or waived.

Booker Upgraded to Questionable

Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker, sidelined by a groin strain, has been upgraded to questionable for Wednesday’s NBA Cup matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Head coach Jordan Ott said over the weekend there was a chance Booker could return for that game.

Suns Ownership Dispute Continues

ESPN reports new developments in the lawsuit pitting Suns majority owner Mat Ishbia against minority shareholders Scott Seldin and Andy Kohlberg. Attorneys for the minority partners are challenging Ishbia’s control of the franchise. A spokesperson for Ishbia dismissed the suit as “ridiculous,” claiming the plaintiffs are using “threats and publicity stunts” to push for a lucrative buyout.
