Minnesota Timberwolves president of basketball operations Tim Connelly has chosen to remain under contract, declining a provision that would have allowed him to leave this summer, according to The Athletic. Connelly signed a five-year agreement in 2022 that included a two-season opt-out. That clause was postponed to 2024 while the franchise’s ownership transfer was unresolved.

With Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez now holding majority control, Connelly is set to run basketball operations for two more years. If ownership is satisfied with his performance, he could become a candidate for an extension when the deal is up in 2026.

Memphis uses room exception on Ty Jerome

The Memphis Grizzlies committed their full room exception to guard Ty Jerome, banking on more than his perimeter shooting. The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports that the club expects Jerome’s playmaking on both ends, steady demeanor and “swagger” to balance a roster stocked with young talent.

Lue: Beal’s Suns numbers were overlooked

Los Angeles Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue, speaking on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast, said Bradley Beal did not receive due credit for his 2023-24 output with the Phoenix Suns. Lue noted that Beal’s statistics were “unbelievable” despite being the third option behind Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. The coach added that a fresh setting with the Clippers could help the guard flourish.
