LOS ANGELES — A month ago, the Clippers were drowning at 6-21. Since then, head coach Tyronn Lue has pulled the throttle back, and the team has responded with six consecutive victories while operating at the NBA’s slowest pace.
During the streak, the Clippers sit first in both offensive and defensive rating, lead the league in free-throw attempts, and allow the fewest three-point shots, according to The Athletic. Lue credits the turnaround to focus rather than scheme changes.
“Humility. Attention to detail. Executing. Sharing the basketball,” Lue said. “The ball’s going to find Kawhi and James eventually, but we’ve allowed other guys to make plays.”
Kawhi Leonard has headlined the surge, surpassing 40 points three times — something he had never done more than twice in a single season. On the perimeter, the return of Derrick Jones Jr. has bolstered point-of-attack defense alongside Kris Dunn, while John Collins has controlled the boards and Nicolas Batum continues to deliver steady minutes.
“I think everybody’s urgency just went up. We know what time it is,” Dunn noted.
The Clippers’ revival has hinged on simplicity: slower possessions, sharper execution, and strict attention to details. What once looked like a lost season is suddenly back in play.
