The Los Angeles Clippers have signed guard Jason Preston to a training-camp deal, Keith Smith of Spotrac reported.
Preston, 26, was selected by the Clippers early in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft after a standout run at Ohio University. A right-foot injury sidelined the 6-foot-4 point guard for his entire rookie year.
He appeared in 14 games for Los Angeles during the 2022-23 campaign before being waived ahead of last season. Preston opened 2023-24 with the NBA G League’s Memphis Hustle, then accepted a two-way contract with the Utah Jazz in January following a brief stint with their Salt Lake City affiliate. A calf strain limited his availability, and Utah released him in November.
Across 21 career NBA contests with the Clippers and Jazz, Preston has averaged 2.5 points, 2.0 assists and 1.9 rebounds.
He joins camp as the 20th player on the Clippers’ roster. If the agreement is an Exhibit 10 contract, Preston could earn a bonus of up to $85,300 if he is waived and then spends at least 60 days with the G League’s San Diego Clippers.
