The Los Angeles Clippers have secured president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank with a new multi-year contract extension, according to four league sources cited by The Athletic.
Specific terms were not disclosed, but the agreement is widely believed to run four years. The report adds that other senior members of the basketball operations department are also expected to receive new deals.
Frank, 55, has overseen the front office since 2017. Before moving upstairs, he served as a Clippers assistant coach from 2014–16 after head-coaching stops with the Nets and Pistons.
The extension was reportedly in the works even during the club’s 6–21 start. A Dec. 20 victory over the Lakers ignited a 15–3 stretch, lifting Los Angeles to 10th in the Western Conference and within three games of .500.
The surge has been driven by Kawhi Leonard—averaging 31.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.4 steals over his last 15 outings—and James Harden, who is putting up 25.1 points, 8.0 assists and 4.3 rebounds during the same span.
