The Los Angeles Clippers announced Thursday that first-year center Yanic Konan Niederhauser has suffered a Lisfranc injury in his right foot and will undergo surgery that will keep him out for the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign.

Niederhauser was hurt during Wednesday’s win over the Indiana Pacers, a game in which he recorded six points, four rebounds and two blocks in eight minutes. Further evaluation revealed the mid-foot injury that now ends his season.

Selected 30th overall in the 2025 NBA Draft, the Swiss 22-year-old opened the year with the Ontario Clippers in the G League before earning a regular spot in Tyronn Lue’s rotation. His recent performances included an 11-point, nine-rebound, four-block, two-steal effort in 21 minutes Monday against Golden State.

“Yeah, he’s a game-changer,” head coach Tyronn Lue said after that win in San Francisco, praising the rookie’s rim protection, offensive rebounding and overall energy.

Niederhauser, who played two collegiate seasons at Northern Illinois and a breakout junior year at Penn State, said before the injury that he focused on increasing his energy level after hearing concerns about his motor coming out of college. “Every time I’m out there, I just give everything I’ve got,” he noted earlier this week.

The injury caps his debut season at 41 appearances. He averaged 4.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 10.3 minutes per contest. With Niederhauser sidelined, Isaiah Jackson is expected to maintain an expanded role in the Clippers’ frontcourt rotation.
