Los Angeles — Los Angeles Clippers center Ivica Zubac will miss a minimum of three weeks after an MRI revealed a Grade 2 sprain in his left ankle, NBA on Prime’s Chris Haynes reported Saturday.
The 28-year-old big man exited Saturday’s matchup against the Lakers after just 10:47 on the court. Zubac is averaging 15.6 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists this season, building on last year’s campaign that earned him a spot on the NBA All-Defensive Second Team.
Saturday’s 107-99 win snapped the Clippers’ five-game skid and pushed their record to 7-20. The club enters Sunday ranked 24th in offensive rating and 26th in defensive rating, giving it the league’s fifth-worst mark overall.
With Zubac sidelined, the Clippers will lean on veteran backup Brook Lopez, who signed with the team in the offseason. Lopez has struggled to make a significant impact but logged a season-high 24:52 against the Lakers, finishing with 11 points and two blocks.
The Clippers have not announced a definitive timeline beyond the initial three-week reevaluation period.
