Maccabi Tel Aviv has signed undrafted center Clifford Omoruyi to a two-year agreement, the Israeli club announced on September 1.

General manager Claudio Coldebella said the team targeted a big man who could provide “rebounding at the highest level, protect the paint, defend pick-and-roll actions, and run the floor,” according to a statement translated by Eurohoops.

Omoruyi, 23, is a 6’11” native of Nigeria. He spent four seasons at Rutgers, earning back-to-back Big Ten All-Defensive Team honors in 2023 and 2024, before transferring to Alabama for his final year of eligibility. With the Crimson Tide in 2024-25, he averaged 7.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 19.2 minutes over 37 games.

Several reports after the June draft indicated the rookie was set to sign a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 contract with the Toronto Raptors, but that deal was never completed. Instead, Omoruyi will begin his professional career in the Israeli Winner League and EuroLeague competition.
