September 18, 2025 — With All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton sidelined for the season following Achilles tendon surgery, the Indiana Pacers will try to defend their Eastern Conference crown without their floor general. Forward Obi Toppin told the Indianapolis Star the roster is prepared to shoulder additional responsibilities. “Ty brings so much to the team and it’s not hidden,” Toppin said. “Everybody has to do a little extra knowing what we’re missing and keep playing Pacers basketball.”
Bulls’ $100 Million Gamble on Giddey
Chicago’s decision to give Josh Giddey a four-year, $100 million contract has sparked debate. In the Chicago Tribune, Julia Poe labeled the move risky because of Giddey’s defensive limitations, cautioning the Bulls against long-term investments in players who can be targeted on that end. Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, however, argued the deal compares favorably with those of several other Eastern Conference starting point guards.
Pistons’ Projected Starters
Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press projects Detroit to open games with Jaden Ivey, Cade Cunningham, Ausar Thompson, Tobias Harris and Jalen Duren. Sankofa also outlined alternate combinations the coaching staff may test during the season.
Five Questions for Milwaukee
Eric Nehm of The Athletic highlighted five issues that could define the Milwaukee Bucks’ campaign, including whether the team can secure steady point-guard play and if forward Kyle Kuzma can rebound from a down year.
