The Boston Celtics have finalized a two-way contract with rookie big man Amari Williams, according to the NBA’s official transaction log. The agreement was recorded on August 15.
Williams, 6-foot-11, averaged 10.9 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.2 blocks in 22.8 minutes per game last season after transferring from Drexel to Kentucky for his super-senior year. Boston selected him 46th overall in June after trading down from pick No. 32.
His deal will pay $636,435 if he remains on a two-way contract for the entire season, and he can appear in up to 50 NBA regular-season games while shuttling between the Celtics and their G League affiliate.
Williams joins fellow two-way players Max Shulga, the No. 57 pick, and RJ Luis, acquired from Utah earlier this month. To create the roster spot, Boston waived Miles Norris, who had carried a two-way contract into the offseason.
With the signing, the Celtics have 18 players under contract: 12 on fully guaranteed deals, Jordan Walsh and Neemias Queta on partial guarantees, Hayden Gray on an Exhibit 10, and three on two-way pacts.
