Boston Celtics governor Bill Chisholm says the franchise remains firmly focused on winning and preserving continuity as he settles into his leadership post.

Speaking with The Boston Globe, Chisholm said he works to be “supportive and visible” without hovering over players or staff. “I try to be super available, super positive,” he noted, adding that he has forged relationships with the entire roster and head coach Joe Mazzulla.

Chisholm praised the club’s existing structure, calling Mazzulla and president of basketball operations Brad Stevens “extraordinary” pillars he intends to keep in place. “I’m going to fight and claw and do everything in my power to make sure we keep it going with those guys,” he said.

Rejects cost-cutting narrative

Recent roster and payroll decisions have sparked speculation that Boston is prioritizing luxury-tax savings. Chisholm dismissed that perception. “I want to win, I want to win desperately,” he said. “I can understand where some short-term decisions might feel like they’re not necessarily headed in that direction, but I know we’re doing the right things to win.”

TD Garden preference

The owner also addressed the team’s long-term arena plans, stating a clear preference to remain at TD Garden if continued upgrades can improve both fan and player experiences. “If we can make it work, we’d love to stay where we are,” he said.

Chisholm’s overarching message: keep the core intact, stay competitive and build from a position of strength.
